Windmere is on its way to becoming even safer thanks to the Department of Homeland Security. Through the federal government’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), the Home has been awarded $84,000 for use in security-improvement efforts.
Everything at the Windmere is centered around caring for residents, and that care extends to the safety and security of their home. Like many organizations today, the Home is always looking for ways to improve and adapt. High-profile security breaches in religious and healthcare settings are a precautionary reminder to always think ahead.
That’s why the NJSP seeks to supply nonprofit organizations in all 50 states with financial resources for physical security enhancements that might otherwise be unaffordable. In fact, organizations in New Jersey received this year’s second highest amount of funding of any state in the country.
For the Home, the grant coincides with formal ongoing efforts to evaluate and bolster security measures.
This generous grant comes at a perfect time. As our security team evaluates important recommendations, we will be able to pursue the best options with confidence.

Already, the Home has a policy of locking all non-visitor entrances 24 hours a day. A friendly concierge welcomes guests at the visitor’s entrance and points them in the right direction.
For residents of the Windmere, this good news means more of what they’ve grown accustomed to: peace of mind within their own community and home.
